Physically, we have nearly recovered from Tamworth. Emotionally – not so much. Needless to say the 10 days spent in Tamworth have been life changing. We traveled there not expecting much but determined to give our best and make every opportunity count. After all the years of writing and performing, I had finally found my home among a very supportive community of musicians and music lovers.
Over the 10 days we went to shows, met incredible musicians and stage crew, were invited up on to Deep Creek Road and the Iain Archibald Band’s stages (which we are beyond grateful for!), we busked, played on the Toyota Fanzone Stage, went to the Golden Guitar Awards, had radio interviews and performances, played twice in the Tamworth Town Hall for the Coca-Cola Battle of the Bands which we ended up WINNING and then we were given the opportunity to play on the MAIN STAGE in Toyota Park in the closing ceremony. Never did we think we would be playing the main stage at our first Tamworth Country Music Festival appearance.
It’s been nearly a year since my move to Melbourne which has most definitely had its ups and downs, but after all the hard work, being able to play to thousands of people in Toyota Park and online – It makes it all worth it. I’m very proud and honoured to have shared the stage with 3 guys who constantly have my back. Although they constantly give me stick for being a Kiwi, Steve, Geoff, Luke and their families have been nothing but supportive and welcoming towards myself and my goals.
I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for us.
